Segundo o Denatran, os criminosos fotografam veículos que estão trafegando em uma determinada via. De posse do número da placa, das imagens e do endereço do motorista, os criminosos falsificam boletos de pagamento de multa e os enviam ao usuário. Nesse suposto boleto consta o número de uma conta bancária na qual deve ser efetuado o depósito do pagamento.
A recomendação aos usuários que ao receberem o documento referente à multa, é que acessem o site do Departamento Estadual de Trânsito de MS (Detran-MS) e consultem, por meio do número da placa do veículo, se há de fato algum registro de infração.
